Altenburg - Frohna, MO.

From the North - take I-55 exit 117 (Old Appleton). Our sign is at
the exit. Go east to U.S. 61, then north, through Old Appleton.
Note the old bridge over the stream in Old Appleton. This is Apple Creek, the
dividing line between Cape and Perry Counties. Lewis and Clark referred to it
as a river, and noted that a few hundred Shawnee Indians, peaceful with
advanced methods, lived near here. Read about Old
Appleton.
Continue a mile north to Uniontown, and turn east on
Route A. (It's a pretty drive.) You'll come to Frohna first, then Altenburg.
If you're in less
of a hurry, take the old road (US 61) which parallels I-55 on the east.
US 61, with its gentle hills, was the main
thoroughfare between St. Louis and Memphis until just 30 years ago.
From the
South -
take I-55 exit 105 at Fruitland. Plenty of gas stations and a couple
restaurants here. Go northeast on U.S. 61 through Fruitland (collectibles
places in Fruitland will lure you) and over the auction barn hill just north of
town.
Turn right
(northeast) on Route C, and stay on C to Altenburg. Turn right on Route A.
Finding Tower Rock Winery
We're two miles
east of Altenburg, on the right (south).
We're half a mile
past the hardwood lumber processing plant. Look for our lake, sign and
vineyard. Turn before the lake. It's a rather sudden turn.
We'll be expecting
you. Casper (the dog) might greet you if he's not too busy taking one of his
long naps.
Check the weather
before coming to the winery, but once you’re here the weather always seems
perfect!
Tower Rock is just down the road, to the east. See Tower Rock information page for further directions.
